SCVEDC CEO selected to participate in Business - Corporate/Manufacturing Working Group as part of LA County’s new Economic Resiliency Task Force

Holly Schroeder, President & CEO of the Santa Clarita Valley Economic Development Corporation has been invited by Supervisor Kathryn Barger to participate in the Business – Corporate / Manufacturing working group that will report to the County’s new Economic Resiliency Task Force. The Task Force met for the first time on Friday, May 8, 2020.

“Los Angeles County, and the entire nation, are facing one of the greatest challenges of our generation. We are crafting policy to appropriately respond to a global pandemic while using an evidence-based, multidisciplinary approach that can work with businesses, associations, organizations, and schools in our community.” said Supervisor Barger of the initiative.

As the County works to gradually relax Safer at Home health orders they sought out community leaders with experience and vision who would be integral to planning, achieving, and sustaining its economic recovery.

The Economic Resiliency Task Force will consist of the Board of Supervisors and a sector lead from 13 different industries. Each of these 13 sector leads will facilitate the sector working group discussions to help develop recommendations to leverage public-private partnerships to reopen our economy. These efforts include crafting sustainable plans for economic recovery, identifying strategies to engage the private sector, and formulating policies to revitalize industries and communities.

Holly Schroeder said, “It is an honor to be selected for this working group. I’m committed to finding solutions to get our economy on the road to recovery. Santa Clarita Valley businesses are eager to open up quickly but only if they can do so safely. ”

Barger also added, “I would like to emphasize that economic recovery is only possible when the County and private industry work together. As a business and community leader, the County will rely on you to inform and develop recommendations based on your knowledge of your sector.”

The County also plans to engage the Task Force to reevaluate our strategies in the event there is another surge of COVID-19 cases in the future.
