SCVEDC Wins CALED Award for Business Assistance Program

The California Association for Local Economic Development (CALED), a state-wide, California professional economic development organization, announced the winners of their CALED Awards at their annual conference on March 22nd. The Santa Clarita Valley Economic Development Corporation (SCVEDC) is pleased to win an award of merit for our Business Assistance Visitation Program for 2016-2017, following an Award of Merit for our 40 for 40 incentive program for the 2015-2016 year.

SCVEDC offers many business services to companies, including Business Assistance visits to those in the Santa Clarita Valley as part of our business retention effort. These face-to-face meetings are a great way for companies and the SCVEDC to get to know each other, allowing us to capture the unique business dynamics and challenges faced by each company and offer a tailored mix of support and assistance. Due to the diverse issues a modern company can potentially encounter, the in-person, confidential meetings offered by SCVEDC remain the most effective way of delivering customized solutions with the greatest positive economic impact.

During these visits, employers can learn about obtaining workforce training at low or no cost or get guidance about local, state, and federal tax incentives. The SCVEDC is the focal point in delivering the business services local companies need.

In 2016, SCVEDC visited 101 companies and our Business Assistance efforts impacted over 9,000 jobs. We are very proud be selected for this award, and happy that we can provide support to Santa Clarita companies in their efforts to create high-quality jobs for SCV residents.

The Santa Clarita Valley Economic Development Corporation (SCVEDC) is a unique private / public partnership representing the united effort of regional industry and government leaders. The SCVEDC utilizes an integrated approach to attracting, retaining and expanding a diversity of businesses in the Santa Clarita Valley, especially those in key industry clusters, by offering competitive business services and other resources.
