College of the Canyons is part of the California Community College system of 116 colleges serving more than 2.1 million students and covers a 367-square-mile service area. It offers 242 associate degree and certificate programs, and served 33,481 students per year at campuses in Valencia and Canyon Country in 2019/20.
In addition to meeting the academic needs of students seeking transfer and career technical education, the college also plays a key role in developing the economy of its service area. On average, the Economic Development Division generates approximately $4 million per year to provide cutting-edge training for thousands of employees at numerous local companies.
The college participates in several innovative partnerships that have redefined the traditional role of community colleges. It collaborates with nearly every social service agency in the community, school districts, city of Santa Clarita, chamber of commerce and many local businesses.
The Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook University Center allows students to earn bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees from a collection of public and private universities, improving access to education by eliminating the need for residents to commute long distances to obtain advanced degrees. As of May 2021, 29 degree programs are offered, as well as certificate and credential programs. A total of 3,798 students have completed programs here as of December 2021. Academy of the Canyons, a middle college high school operated by the William S. Hart Union High School District, opened on the College of the Canyons campus in 2002 allowing promising high school students to attend high school and college concurrently. The University Center opened in 2002.
Opened in 1969, the college has fostered a reputation for innovation, excellence, partnerships, and student success during its service to the community.
Also operating at the college are the Center for Applied Competitive Technologies and the Employee Training Institute, both of which have helped local businesses become more efficient and train employees in the latest emerging fields. The Small Business Development Center and the i3 Advanced Technology Center, hosted by the college, leverages college resources and provides additional support and seminars to assist entrepreneurs and small business owners.

The challenges and threats which the church faces are ever-increasing. And as our society continues to veer away from righteousness and truth, the more professing Christians there will be who compromise to accommodate society’s desires. For conviction is not a hereditary trait automatically transferred to the next generation. Rather, it must be fostered as individuals come to know the depths and breadth of God’s word.
The Master’s University exists to establish such conviction in the coming generation of believers, so that the church has faithful stewards of the truth, who are obedient to Scripture in every aspect of their lives. For the church needs members in every role and office who are eager to know and proclaim the truth, whether it be in their local-churches, family, or vocation.
And how does TMU do this? By dedicating itself to Christ in all things. At TMU, Christ is not simply a topic to be studied; He is Lord over every discipline, and every thought is to be taken captive to Him. This demands that every student receive a thorough theological foundation in Scripture and doctrine, and that all faculty and staff believe an extensive doctrinal statement and commit themselves to instill a biblical worldview in every student. This also demands that the faculty be experts in their fields, able to prepare and drive students to excel in their disciplines.
The Master’s University has given this holistic biblical education to thousands of students since 1927, and with each passing year the institution devotes itself to a new level of excellence. At TMU, students are equipped for a life of enduring commitment to Christ and Scripture. They are also prepared to step confidently into the workforce or additional education—realities exemplified by a remarkable pass rate on the CPA exam and high acceptance rates to graduate and medical schools.
In a world of folly and deceit, the Church is the pillar of truth. And it is The Master’s University’s passion and duty to train members of Christ’s body for this highest of callings.
2/3 of our elementary schools have been named a California Distinguished School at least once, and several are National Blue Ribbon Schools. William S.
