S.T.R.E.A.M Expo Returns to Teach Innovation for MFG Day

S.T.R.E.A.M Expo Returns to Teach Innovation for MFG Day

SCV MFG Day 2019October 3-4 marks the 5th annual MFG Day where industry leaders come together to educate students about careers in the advanced manufacturing industry. This is the second year SCVEDC is partnering with S.T.R.E.A.M. and other local organizations like College of the Canyons and William S. Hart School District to bring a two-day event for both parents and students to focus on the future of innovation.

This year will feature a kick-off panel for parents with round table discussions led by leaders from Advanced Bionics, JPL, SoCal Gas, Stratasys Direct Manufacturing, and Technifex. Parents will learn what top skills and characteristics employers in the industry are looking for and how they can help their kids prepare for the future.

SCV MFG Day 2019The second day is focused on the students themselves, where exhibitors bring the advanced manufacturing industry to life through interactive opportunities ranging from robotics and 3D printing to medical devices and aircraft components. In the past, these immersive experiences provoke questions and dialogue around the industry that can be had directly with the industry professionals themselves.

MFG Day serves to help students prepare for future careers in advanced manufacturing by shattering the old illusion that manufacturing jobs are solely for working on a factory floor. Students are able to experience firsthand the diversity and technology now required for a future career in the industry, opening their eyes to new opportunities they may never have considered otherwise due to the outdated idea of what manufacturing jobs look like.

Register for the Parents Café and learn more about the event for students by visiting S.T.R.E.A.M. Kids Expo.
